Where To Visit
You must visit Bellagio, which is a short ferry ride from Menaggio (about 25 mins in car from apartment). Alternatively you can catch the slow or fast lake ferry from Domaso. Menaggio too is lovely and worth a visit as is Varenna on the other side of the lake to Bellagio.

Como is a really nice little city and well worth a look and great for shopping as is Lecco also Lugano (signposted from Menaggio) is a lovely city by lake Lugano. Make sure to take your passports as it’s in Switzerland!!

Bernina Express
The train from Tirano (about 10 miles through Sondrio) to St. Moritz, is well worth doing. Get a return ticket and again don’t forget passports!! St. Moritz is beautiful and is only an hour or so drive away (passports!!), as is Chiavenna on the way (still in Italy) which is a lovely old town and only 20 mins away.

Activities & Water Sports
If you like water sports, Gera Lario is one of Italy’s premier sailing venues (it recently held the Italian Lazer sailing championships)

You can hire all from Gera Lario. http://www.tabosurf.com/it/. Gives good info on the area.

There is a swimming pool on the front at Gera Lario, which opens from June till September for the public. It was about 4 euro a day in 2015.

There are loads of walks in the hills above the apartment. There are a few leaflets in the draw / cupboard next to the bed otherwise just explore, there are loads of maps. (best walk is along the mountain track to Vercanna above Domaso, down into Domaso and back along the lake path.)

There is a lovely little beach. Park under the trees by the church at the bottom of the lane (or walk down the lane) and take the lane directly opposite the church for 100yds or so to the beach. It is nice for sunbathing and safe to swim and during the week is it really quiet. It is only a short stroll from here to Bar Pace! (Walk back up lane to main road, cross the river and follow path down to lakeside on the other side and just follow to the small port. This path carries on around the lake up to Sorico). Or follow the path away from the river which takes you to Domaso.

There are lots of leaflets, maps guides etc in the draw by the bed and a really helpful tourist info booth in Domaso (LHS just over river).
